At Common Threads, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you about how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

Common Threads is a First Nations led organisation working to harness the power of First Nations leadership and advocacy to win transformative change.

This privacy notice aims to give you information on how we collect and process your personal data through your use of this website, including any data you may provide when you:

  • Register to attend events and webinars
  • Subscribe to our newsletter or make a donation to support our work
  • Sign petitions or participate in our campaigns
  • Ask for extra information, such as through a form on this website

Common Threads is supported by the Centre for Australian Progress Ltd (ABN 76158172484). Donations to the Together for Treaty campaign are accepted by the Centre for Australian Progress. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible. By donating to this campaign, you agree that your contact details will be shared with the Centre for Australian Progress for the sole purpose of communicating with you regarding your donation (for example, providing your donation receipt via email).

2. The Data We Collect About You

Personal data means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier.
  • Contact Data includes email address, telephone numbers, and postal address.
  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform.
  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our website and services.
  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences.

Where relevant to your participation in our programs and campaigns, we may collect additional personal data relating to: your job role or organisation; your identity, particularly in regards to cultural background and First Nations status; and records of your participation in our programs.

We do not collect financial information, such as credit card details (these may or may not be retained by third parties such as Stripe or Humanitix, dependent on their own privacy policies and your choices).

We will use your personal data in order to:

  • Promote relevant opportunities of interest to you.
  • Manage incoming inquiries and ensure we have responded appropriately.
  • Evaluate our reach and impact.
